Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to conclude a four-party agreement on container transportation

Serdar Berdimuhamedov proposed to conclude a quadripartite agreement on container transportation along the new China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway during negotiations with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which took place on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand.

At the meeting, “the sphere of transport and logistics was also highlighted among the most important areas of cooperation. In this regard, the new route of rail transportation China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran is seen as promising. As noted, in order to realize the huge potential of this corridor, it is advisable to conclude a four-party agreement on container transportation”, reports the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper today.

The new China-Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran railway was launched in December 2014. It permits to reduce the distance from China to Iran by 500 km.

As we have already reported, at the talks, Chinese President Xi Jinping supported the construction of the fourth branch of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline, with the commissioning of which the supply of Turkmen natural gas to the Celestial Empire should increase to 65 billion cubic meters per year.

This was the first meeting between the leaders of Turkmenistan and China since Serdar Berdimuhamedov took office in March this year as President of the country.
Taking the opportunity, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov invited President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at a convenient time.

Accepting this invitation with deep gratitude, the head of the friendly state thanked the head of Turkmenistan for the constructive conversation, the proposals for intensifying traditional cooperation, and, in turn, invited President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit China at any time.
